The Iowa Economic Development Authority board approved awards to two projects during its meeting today. American Packaging Corp. plans to spend $7.8 million on a 20,000-square-foot addition to its facility in Story City and the purchase of new equipment. IEDA awarded the company tax benefits through the High Quality Jobs program, and the project would create 25 new jobs. Are we looking forward to the Soccer stadium, or did we forget? |
Infrastructure work for the proposed Pro Iowa Soccer Stadium and Global Plaza is set to begin in spring 2026. Despite a $23.1 million funding gap, the project aims to enhance downtown Des Moines, attract workers, and introduce a United Soccer League franchise. Funding sources include individual donations, state grants, and corporate gifts amounting to $71.9 million. The project's feasibility and potential economic impact are promising, generating revenue and creating thousands of jobs.
